A record number of competitors from the Port Macquarie Region will be representing the WorldSkills NSW State team competing in the WorldSkills Australia 2023 National Championships being held in Melbourne on 17-19  August 2023.

Of the 50 students who qualified for the National WorldSkills VET in Schools category from all across NSW, 19 are from Newman Senior Technical College in Port Macquarie.

A fantastic achievement from a local Senior Technical College offering 14 Vocational & Educational (VET) courses as part of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and a distinct way to measure student success as well as the quality of training provided at Newman College.

WorldSkills Australia (WSA) is a dynamic national organisation that has been contributing to Australia’s sustainable economic prosperity through the development, recognition, and promotion of skills excellence since 1981. Aiming to instil young Australians with the confidence to excel in their trade or skill by inspiring and providing them with an opportunity to showcase their trade and skill talent, WorldSkills achieves this goal through competitions held on a regional, national and international level. All three levels of competition run biennially. For more information on WorldSkills visit: 2023 National Worldskills Championships or check out the News story in the Port News
