Newman gave me the confidence, skills and opportunities I needed to successfully transition into life after school. Through work placement and real-world learning, I gained valuable experience that helped me develop professionally and discover the career path I wanted to pursue. The supportive teachers and unique learning environment encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, build meaningful connections and prepare for the future. The right balance

Newman gave me real insight into the human service industry, particularly through workplacement. The right balance of theory and practical experience encouraged and prepared me to pursue paramedicine studies with a realistic approach, and I know it is definitely the future I want to create for myself.

Gained Confidence

Through Newman’s work placement program, I got to work with Stowe Electrical while still at school. It allowed me to build networks and prove what I could do before graduating. Thanks to that head start, I walked straight out of school and into a full-time job. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to gain the confidence they need to take that next big step.

Employment Opportunities

Newman directly connected me with employment opportunities, setting me up for long-term success. I wanted to finish school learning stuff that I thought I would actually use in life. Choosing Newman definitely enabled that for me. I developed skills while trying different fields of work. Beginning in electrotechnology, I then tried a workplacement in surveying. This experience led to part-time work and, after completing my HSC, a full-time job.

Switching to Newman was a pivotal step in shaping my future, and I am really happy I made that choice.

Newman College has provided me with the opportunity to venture into the workplace and experience multiple different fields of work. Workplacement allowed me to realise which career path I would like to take upon completion of Year 12.

Forever Grateful

Newman allowed me the opportunity to put my foot in the door whilst still finishing school and gaining a Higher School Certificate. Good Different

Newman is a different kind of school, good different. It can be daunting knowing the shoes you have to fill, once you finish high school, but the teachers and staff at Newman ensure you are well equipped for what the future holds. It’s a safe place where you are able to genuinely enjoy yourself and the last years of your long schooling journey. I can’t thank Newman enough for everything they have done for me.

Confidence in Self

Newman College has given me something that 10 years of schooling prior never could, confidence in self. When I look at myself in Year 10 compared to now, I think – wow I have done things I never thought I would and got enough experience under my belt to make employers think – yes I want this guy.

Gave me the best head start for the future

Newman College was the best decision I have made in my schooling career. Coming to this school has given me an experience like no other. Being able to go out into the workforce once a week gives you the chance to work and learn in your chosen subjects. Then for myself gaining a School-based Traineeship early on in Year 11 working one day a week then two days in Year 12, gave me the best head start for my future. The school environment is a very welcoming and comfortable environment. The teachers are great and very helpful in their fields and I thank them for everything they have done. I have enjoyed my two years at Newman and I can guarantee everyone who enrols at Newman will as well.

A highlight was meeting new friends

Newman Senior Technical College is a great way of learning and completing your HSC in a very different but enjoyable way, the staff at this school offer great help and support and are always willing to help you in any way possible. The Workplace Learning Program is a fantastic way of learning, out in the workforce, which gives you a better idea on what you may want to do once you finish school. One thing that was a highlight for myself, was meeting new friends at this school that I will have forever.

I am forever grateful for all the help and support Newman has provided me with, especially obtaining a Traineeship at St Joseph’s Family Services. Newman teaches us how to love one another as we should love ourselves as the motto states, “Heart speaks to Heart”. Newman has helped many, including myself, to get out there and explore the vast opportunities at hand. Just to name a few – Boat licence, Deckhands Course, Cert II & III in Business Services and many more. I am so privileged to have had these opportunities. Thanks to everyone at Newman.”

Best decision I have ever made!

Newman Senior Technical College, made me feel like I was a part of a family aside from my actual family. The teachers and staff here are so welcoming and helpful towards everything! I couldn’t recommend Newman enough; it was the best decision I have ever made!

I am so glad I chose to study at Newman

At first, I wasn’t really sure what to expect attending Newman and how I would go finishing high school and my HSC without an ATAR. My uncertainty changed as I found myself achieving and thriving more than I could at my other high school. I was able to experience different career options and eliminate those areas that didn’t suit me. I was given plenty of assistance and was thoroughly informed about university opportunities and application forms.

I am now in my first year of a bachelor of Criminal Justice, all accomplished without the overloading stress of a traditional school and whilst undertaking my HSC and other Nationally recognised certificates. I’m so glad I chose to study at Newman, it really is the best High School in Port Macquarie, where you really can experience an HSC like no other!
